When an app auto-updates or someone edits the theme, the store still loads, so uptime monitors stay green. What breaks is quieter: the cart gets the wrong variant, checkout rejects a valid phone number, a discount stops applying, product pages show old prices. Most merchants find out from a customer email or a sales dip, days later.

Enter your store address. A test shopper adds two variants to a cart and checks the result; no order is placed.
An uptime check asks one question: did the page return HTTP 200? A store with a broken variant picker, a crashing app script or a checkout that rejects addresses still returns 200. To catch these, something has to act like a shopper: add to cart, read the cart back, open checkout. Shopify's own status page covers the platform, not your theme and apps.
